Year-end report January 1 – December 31 2022

In the fourth quarter 2022, Acconeer's net sales amounted to 13,859 kSEK, and the product revenue increased by 74% compared to the same quarter last year. A record number of sensors were sold, 264,783 and 14,140 modules were sold. In total, Acconeer has sold 1,473,379 radar sensors and 114,892 modules since launch. In the quarter 346 evaluation kits were sold, and an accumulated 5,941 EVKs have been sold since launch. The gross margin in Q4 was 56% and 10 new customer products were launched.

CEO Lars Lindell comments: "It feels good to be able to say that we made yet another strong quarter, as the fourth quarter 2022 was the eleventh consecutive quarter of growing revenue."

 

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Net sales for the fourth quarter amounted to kSEK 13,859 (8,110) TSEK.
  • The gross margin on sales of goods was 56 (72) %.
  • Result after taxes amounted to kSEK-10,428 (-17,257).
  • Earnings per share before and after dilution was SEK -0.40 (-0.74).
  • The cash flow from operating activities was kSEK -6,973 (-14,013).

 

FULL YEAR

  • Net sales for nine months amounted to kSEK 46,825 (31,157).
  • The gross margin on sales of goods was 59 (71) %.
  • Result after taxes amounted to kSEK-47,154 (-51,138).
  • Earnings per share before and after dilution was SEK -1.81 (-2.19) SEK.
  • The cash flow from operating activities was kSEK -36,220 (-39,999).
  • Cash and cash equivalents on the balance sheet date amounted to kSEK 89,883 (156,858).

Acconeer får order från Digi-Key värd 1,1 miljoner SEK

Ordern avser den nya pulsade koherenta radarsensorn A121 för kunders massproduktion, samt den första A121-baserade integrationsfärdiga modulen XM125 med tillhörande utvärderingskit (EVK) XE125. Produkterna kommer att finnas tillgängliga för köp online från slutet av Mars. Digi-Keys globala online-plattform, som förser kunder med utvärderingskit och sensorer avsedda för massproduktion, är fortsatt en viktig distributionskanal för Acconeer.

Vd, Lars Lindell, kommenterar: "Utvärderingskit för A121 har varit tillgängligt sedan i somras och vi vet att många kunder har börjat utveckla sina A121-baserade produkter. Nu är vi på väg att släppa den första A121-baserade modulen, som vi vet att många kunder har väntat på, och vi ser fram emot att se vilka innovativa produkter och användningsfall den kommer att användas i."

Acconeer receives order from Digi-Key worth USD 100k

The order relates to the new A121 Pulsed Coherent Radar sensor for mass production, as well as the first A121-based module, the integration-ready XM125 and its related evaluation kit (EVK) XE125. The products will be available to purchase online from end of March. Digi-Keys global online platform, serving customers with evaluation kits and sensors intended for mass production, remains an important distribution channel for Acconeer.

CEO Lars Lindell comments: "The evaluation kit for A121 has been available since last summer, and we know that many customers have started developing their A121-based products. Now we are about to release the first A121-based module, which we know many customers have been waiting for, and we look forward to seeing what innovative products and use cases it will be used in."

In addition to publicly announced orders, Acconeer continuously receives orders of smaller amounts which are not publicly announced as they are not considered to affect the share price.

Acconeer och tre stora WiGig-intressenter lämnar in ett gemensamt regleringsförslag till FCC

Acconeer har kommit överens med tre stora globala teknikföretag om ett gemensamt förslag till Federal Communications Commission (FCC) för nya regler för 60GHz-frekvensbandet i USA. Förslaget gör det möjligt för Acconeers och andra mmWave-radarteknologier att samexistera med WiGig i 60GHz-bandet. Det inlämnade förslaget finns att läsa på FCC:s hemsida.

WiGig, även kallat 60 GHz Wi-Fi, är ett kommunikationsprotokoll som delar samma olicensierade frekvensband som Acconeers pulsade koherenta radar (PCR) såväl som andra mmWave-teknologier. FCC arbetar för närvarande med ett nytt regelverk för 60GHz frekvensbandet, vilket kommer att vara viktigt för Acconeers verksamhet på den amerikanska marknaden och öppna upp för nya innovativa tillämpningar. Med nya regler på plats kommer framtida certifieringar också att bli mindre komplicerade och tidskrävande för kunderna.

VD Lars Lindell kommenterar: "Vi ser detta avtal med WiGig-företagen om ett förslag för samexistens som ett viktigt steg mot en amerikansk reglering som är fördelaktigt för Acconeer, våra kunder och för den amerikanska allmänheten."

Acconeer and three major WiGig stakeholders submit joint regulation proposal to FCC

Acconeer has agreed with three large global tech companies about a joint proposal to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for new regulations of the 60GHz frequency band in the US. The proposal makes it possible for Acconeer's and other mmWave radar technologies to co-exist with WiGig in the 60GHz band. The submitted proposal can be read at FCC's website.

WiGig, also known as 60 GHz Wi-Fi, is a communication protocol that shares the same unlicensed frequency band as Acconeer's Pulsed Coherent Radar as well as other mmWave technologies. The FCC is currently working on new regulations for the 60GHz frequency band, which will be important for Acconeer's activities on the American market and open up for new innovative applications. With new regulations in place, future certifications will also be less complicated and time-consuming for customers.

Delårsrapport Q3 2022

I tredje kvartalet 2022 uppgick Acconeers nettoomsättning till 12 066 TSEK, och ökningen av produktintäkter var 62% jämfört med samma kvartal förra året. Ett rekordstort antal sensorer såldes, 185 419 och 21 116 moduler såldes. Sedan lansering har Acconeer sålt totalt 1 208 596 radarsensorer och 100 752 moduler. Under kvartalet såldes även 332 utvärderingskit, EVK, och den ackumulerade EVK-försäljningen sedan lansering uppgår vid kvartalets slut till 5 595. Bruttomarginalen i Q3 var 58% och 11 nya kundprodukter lanserades.

– Den roligaste nyheten i Q3 var framgångarna i bilbranschen där vi såg den första lanserade bilen som använder vår radarsensor, säger VD, Lars Lindell.

 

TREDJE KVARTALET

  • Nettoomsättningen för tredje kvartalet uppgick till 12 066 (7 859) TSEK.
  • Bruttomarginalen avseende försäljning av varor uppgick till 58 (70) %.
  • Resultat efter skatt uppgick till -10 648 (-10 309) TSEK.
  • Resultat per aktie före och efter utspädning var -0,40 (-0,44) SEK.
  • Kassaflödet från den löpande verksamheten var -8 094 (-7 673) TSEK.

JANUARI-SEPTEMBER

  • Nettoomsättningen för nio månader uppgick till 32 966 (23 047) TSEK.
  • Bruttomarginalen avseende försäljning av varor uppgick till 60 (71) %.
  • Resultat efter skatt uppgick till -36 726 (-33 881) TSEK.
  • Resultat per aktie före och efter utspädning -1,55 (-1,45) SEK.
  • Kassaflödet från den löpande verksamheten var -29 247 (-25 973) TSEK.
  • Likvida medel uppgick på balansdagen till 112 649 (47 849) TSEK.

In the third quarter 2022, Acconeer's net sales amounted to 12,066 kSEK, and the product revenue increased by 62% compared to the same quarter last year. A record number of sensors were sold, 185,419 and 21,116 modules were sold. In total, Acconeer has sold 1,208,596 radar sensors and 100,752 modules since launch. In the quarter 332 evaluation kits were sold, and an accumulated 5,595 EVKs have been sold since launch. The gross margin in Q3 was 58% and as much as 11 new customer products were launched.

Acconeer utvecklar modul baserad på den nya pulsade koherenta radarsensorn A121

Den nya modulen – som blir den första med den nya radarsensorn A121 – kommer att heta XM125 Entry+ Module. Den kommer att ha ultralåg strömförbrukning, enastående systemkostnad och lödbar design för optimerad integration i massproducerade lösningar. Modulen planeras att vara tillgänglig för kunder under Q1 2023.

XM125 Entry+ Module kommer att ha samma formfaktor som de tidigare släppta Entry+-modulerna XM123 och XM124, med ett fotavtryck på endast 15×18,6 mm vilket är den nya standarden för moduler med A1-sensorfamiljen vilken inkluderar både A111 och A121. XM125 kan levereras i tape-and-reel-format vilket gör det enkelt för kunder att använda modulen i massproduktion. Ett utvärderingskit (EVK), XE125, kommer också att finnas tillgängligt för att göra det möjligt för kunder att utvärdera och utveckla sina XM125-baserade produkter med Acconeers populära Exploration Tool.

VD Lars Lindell kommenterar: "Vi är glada att kunna tillkännage vår första A121-baserade modul, och därmed utöka vårt framgångsrika integrationsfärdiga Entry Module-sortiment med vår bästa sensor hittills. Våra moduler har varit mycket populära och förra veckan kunde vi meddela att vi har sålt mer än 100 000 moduler. Nu ser vi fram emot att se vilka innovativa produkter våra kunder kommer att använda XM125 i."

Acconeers första modul, den ARM Cortex M7-baserade XM112 High-Performance Module, släpptes i december 2018 och gör det möjligt för kunder att utvärdera sina användningsfall på ett inbyggt system med hög prestanda. Sedan dess har modulportföljen utökats och med lanseringen av XM125 kommer det att finnas totalt sex moduler tillgängliga i tre olika segment: High-Performance Modules för kunder som vill ha hög processorkraft, IoT-moduler för användningsfall där inbyggd anslutning behövs och Entry-moduler för lägsta möjliga systemkostnad.

Acconeer develops module based on the new A121 pulsed coherent radar sensor

The new module – which will be the first to integrate the new A121 radar sensor – will be called XM125 Entry+ Module. It will have ultra-low power consumption, outstanding system cost and solderable design for optimized integration into mass-produced solutions. The module is planned to be available for customers in Q1 2023.

The XM125 Entry+ Module will have the same form factor as the previously released Entry+ Modules XM123 and XM124, with a footprint of only 15×18,6 mm which is the new standard for modules featuring the A1 sensor family including both A111 and A121. XM125 can be delivered in tape-and-reel format which makes it easy for customers to put into mass production. An evaluation kit (EVK), XE125, will also be available to make it possible for customers to evaluate and develop their XM125-based products using Acconeer's popular Exploration Tool.

CEO Lars Lindell comments: "We are happy to announce our first A121-based module, which will expand our successful integration-ready Entry Module range with our best sensor so far. Our modules have been very popular, and last week we could announce that we have sold more than 100 000 modules. Acconeer's first module, the ARM Cortex M7-based XM112 High-Performance Module, was released in December 2018, allowing customers to evaluate their use cases on an embedded system with high performance. Since then, the module portfolio has been extended and with the release of the XM125 there will be a total of six modules available in three different segments: High-Performance Modules for customers who want high processing power, IoT Modules for use cases where built-in connectivity is needed and Entry Modules for lowest possible system cost.

Första bilen med Acconeers A1 radar sensor är nu lanserad

Acconeers A1 pulsade koherenta radarsensor används i en elbilsmodell från en av de två främsta amerikanska högvolymbilstillverkarna för access control, vilket möjliggör beröringsfri öppning och stängning av bagageutrymmet på en bil. Detta är den första kommersiellt tillgängliga bilen som använder Acconeers teknologi. Baserat på prognoser från distributören uppskattas värdet av lanseringen av denna modell till 6 100 000 SEK under tre år. Försäljning till denna kund återspeglas i försäljning till Acconeers distributörer.

VD Lars Lindell kommenterar: "Att se den första bilen på gatorna med vår radarsensor i är en enorm milstolpe för Acconeer, detta är naturligtvis ett viktigt steg för oss som företag.
